There seems to be no stopping Alex Eala from climbing her way to the top.
The 20-year-old reached a career-best world No. 51 following the release of the latest ratings of the World Tennis Association.
Eala recently finished her campaign in the Guangzhou Open in China where she competed in both the singles and the doubles events.
The Rafael Nadal Academy graduate suffered a 6-2, 4-6, 4-6 loss to Claire Liu of the United States in the Round of 32 in the singles.
She then joined forces with two-time Olympian Nadiia Kichenok of Ukraine and made it as far as the semifinal before getting knocked out by Janice Tjen of Indonesia and Katarzyna Piter of Poland, 7-6, 3-6, 5-10.
Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus remains the top women’s player while Iga Swiatek of Poland and Coco Gauff of the United States remain in second and third place, respectively.
Eala is currently in Hong Kong as she vies for the singles crown of the Hong Kong Tennis Open.
The Filipina superstar will face Katie Boulter of Great Britain in the Round of 32 in the singles on Wednesday.
She and her partner, Hao Ching Chan of Chinese Taipei, however, suffered a 6-3, 1-6, 7-10 loss to Kamilla Rakhimova of Russia and Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus in the Round of 16 of the doubles event on Monday.
