Maya Philippines Inc. and Maya Bank Inc. have renewed their International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certifications, reinforcing their position as leaders in secure and trusted digital banking.
The two entities maintained their ISO 27001 certification for information security management, as well as ISO 27701 for privacy information management, remaining the first digital bank and among the earliest fintech firms in the country to do so.
“At Maya, security is central to every product we design, putting protection directly in our customers’ hands,” said Doctor Ken Baylor, Group Chief Information Security Officer of Maya. “ISO 27001 and 27701 confirm that discipline—it means our customer data is protected to global standards and our in-built trust scales with our technology.”
The milestone comes during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, as global fintech players face rising fraud and cybercrime risks. Maya’s integrated security approach aligns with the Philippines’ Data Privacy Act of 2012 and the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The company also holds PCI DSS certification and received the National Privacy Commission’s Privacy Initiative of the Year award in 2022.
Maya’s in-app Security Center gives users real-time control over their accounts, allowing them to freeze or unfreeze cards, set limits, and manage transactions instantly—supported by biometric logins, one-time passwords, and AI-driven fraud monitoring.
“Security shouldn’t just work hard in the background. Customers must be able to take direct security actions so they feel in control,” said Shailesh Baidwan, President of Maya Group and Co-Founder of Maya Bank. “Maya’s approach makes protection tangible for customers. That shift is critical given fraud is rising globally and customer confidence and trust is key.”
Beyond technology, Maya continues to lead public awareness through its Scam Patrol campaign and partnerships with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), DICT, PNP, SEC, and major telcos under PROTECTA PILIPINAS Fintech—a national effort to curb online fraud and boost consumer protection.
With these renewed certifications and collaborative initiatives, Maya continues to set the benchmark for security and trust in Philippine digital finance.
