Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on Saturday expressed anew firm support for investigations into alleged irregularities in public infrastructure projects, emphasizing that accountability must prevail regardless of one’s connections or family ties.

Go earlier addressed allegations that his family may have been involved in anomalous government construction projects.

He firmly denied any involvement or influence, clarifying that his father, a former private contractor, has long exited the industry.

“Retired na po ’yan noong 2019,” Go said of his father. “Tinapos lang nila ang mga proyekto noon, pero hindi na ginagamit ang lisensya. Officially, around 2022 talagang sinara na.”

("He retired in 2019. They just finished the projects then, but the license is no longer in use. Officially, it was closed around 2022.")

Go was emphatic in distancing himself from any business dealings involving his relatives, reiterating that he has never used his public office for personal or familial gain.

“Hindi po ako negosyante. Hindi ako contractor. Trabaho lang po ako bilang senador,” he asserted. “Hindi ko ginamit ang posisyon ko para bigyan ng pabor ang kamag-anak ko.”

("I am not a businessman. I am not a contractor. I am just doing my job as a senator. I did not use my position to favor my relatives.")

The senator stressed that he is willing to cooperate fully with any official inquiry and, if necessary, file charges himself should evidence of wrongdoing surface—even against his own relatives.

“Kung may kasalanan sila, ako mismo ang magpa-file ng kaso. Ako mismo ang complainant,” Go declared. “Kung may pagkukulang o anomalya, panagutin.”

("If they are at fault, I will file a case myself. I will be the complainant myself. If there is any deficiency or anomaly, hold them accountable.")

Also, Go remarked that while no one can choose their family, the law must be applied equally.

“Kung pwede lang pumili ng kamag-anak, papalitan ko na sana,” he said. “Pero kahit sino pa sila, kung may kasalanan, kasuhan.”

("If I could just choose my relatives, I would have replaced them. But whoever they are, if they are guilty, they should be prosecuted.")

Go concluded his statement with an appeal for transparency and a fair investigation.

“Ang importante, tumbukin natin ang katotohanan. Huwag ilihis ang isyu, huwag lokohin ang Pilipino,” he said.

("The important thing is, let's face the truth. Don't divert the issue, don't fool the Filipino people.")
