The Province of Nueva Ecija began construction of a Drying System I facility on 3 October 2025, in Barangay Tabacao, Talavera.
The project, led by the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech), is set to benefit the Nagkakaisang Magsasaka Agricultural Primary Multi-Purpose Cooperative upon completion.
The facility features a 390-square-meter shed with a budget allocation of ₱5.38 million. It will include a warehouse, receiving and loading dock, dust collection room, generator set area, and storage space for drying equipment.
Integral to the system are two recirculating dryers, each with a 6-ton per batch capacity, valued at ₱5.72 million. The project falls under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Mechanization Program, which aims to boost farmers’ productivity, improve palay quality, and enhance their skills in rice production.
