The local government of Quezon City has launched an investigation after three students were injured Tuesday when concrete debris fell on them from a condominium building on Tomas Morato Avenue.

The students, all minors from Don Roces Science High School, were walking in front of the building around 4:40 p.m. when a portion of the upper structure fell, according to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).

Two of the victims suffered severe head injuries and were found lying on the pavement. The third student sustained an arm injury. All three were taken to Capitol Medical Center for treatment, and one remained unconscious Tuesday night.

The city government said in a statement that it is “studying any cases that may be filed against anyone accountable” and vowed to assist the victims and their families through its Social Services and Development Department.

The QCPD has secured the area and is working with other agencies to inspect the site, assess the building’s structural integrity and determine the cause of the incident.
