Baliwag, Bulacan – A suspect was immediately collared by the Baliwag City Police Station during a hostage taking drama at the Baliwag Public Market, Brgy. Poblacion on the wee morning of August 13, 2025.

According to the Baliwag CPS, Police Lt. Ariel G. Modelo responded to the call of the hostage taking incident that happened around 1:43am.

The report stated that the suspect Brando, a 46-year-old fisherman and resident of Barangay Poblacion, has already stabbed 25-year-old victim Lenie at the head. The victim sustained a lasceration.

The suspect then stabbed 48-year-old guard Vince before taking a minor as hostage.

The police tried to negotiate with the suspect, but refused to surrender. With quick wittedness, PMsg Francis Damian saw an opening and grabbed the knife of the suspect, taking him down in the process.

The injured victims were immediately taken to nearby medical facilities, while the suspect underwent a medical checkup. Cases of Attempted Homicide in relations to RA 7610 (Child Protection Law) is being charged against him at the City Prosecutor’s Office ng Baliwag City.
