The death toll from the combined effects of typhoon “Inday” and the southwest monsoon has risen to 26, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said Wednesday.
The victims died from drowning or landslides, according to the agency’s latest report. The deaths were recorded across several provinces — 10 in Sarangani, seven in Lanao del Sur, four in Davao Occidental, two each in Zamboanga Sibugay and Bukidnon and one in Iloilo.
Civil defense officials said nine people were injured in landslides: two each in Benguet, Lanao del Sur, and Maguindanao del Norte, and one each in Marinduque, Davao Occidental and Sarangani
An additional 14 people remain missing, including five in Davao Occidental, four in Lanao del Sur, two each in Zamboanga del Sur and Sarangani, and one in Maguindanao del Sur.
