The Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) announced Tuesday the seizure of more than P7 million worth of illegal drugs and the arrest of 15 individuals in a series of operations last week.

In a report, PDEG acting chief Brig. Gen. Edwin Quilates said 11 operations conducted from 4 to 10 August resulted in the confiscation of 1,000 grams of suspected shabu and 2,000 grams of dried marijuana leaves.

Among those arrested were eight high-value individuals, one street-level individual, one child in conflict with the law and three people with outstanding warrants.

Quilates said the arrests would deal a major blow to local drug syndicates.

“I commend the tireless efforts of our operatives and partner agencies whose commitment and coordination made these accomplishments possible,” he said.

Meanwhile, Quezon City police operations from 3 to 9 August led to the arrest of 255 people on various charges, according to Quezon City Police District (QCPD) acting director Col. Randy Silvio.

Silvio said 84 of those arrested were drug suspects, 83 were wanted persons, 54 were gamblers and four were in illegal possession of firearms.

The 51 anti-drug operations led to the confiscation of P1.1 million worth of illegal drugs. Police also conducted 28 operations against illegal gambling, arresting 54 people and seizing P27,746 in bet money.

Charges have been filed against the suspects.
