As a new academic year approaches,  Muntinlupa City Mayor Ruffy Biazon has acknowledged concerns over access limitations to Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLMun) following the closure of a key access road in South Greenheights Village last month.

In a statement on Monday, Biazon said that the city government will meet with the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) on Tuesday to talk about details and mechanics of access for affected students and staff.

The South Green Heights Homeowners Association (HOA) closed the road leading to Korokan in July over concerns on security, traffic, congestion, and cleanliness. The said road has long served as a shortcut for students and staff of PLMun and Muntinlupa National High School (MNHS),

In a letter dated 22 July addressed to BuCor General Gregorio Catapang, Biazon noted that while students are currently allowed limited access via tricycles, the arrangement is inadequate due to long queues for tricycles.

“With the anticipated opening of PLMun this coming August, over 15,000 students expected to return to campus, in addition to the 5,000 MNHS students, the current transportation setup will be severely inadequate,” Biazon said in the letter.

The Munti mayor proposed a point-to-point service of public utility vehicles within the BuCor compound dedicated for students and staff. He also called for the immediate convening of all key stakeholders including BuCor, the city government, school administrations of PLMun and MNHS, Barangay Poblacion, and a Department of Education - Muntinlupa Schools Division Office representative.
