In response to widespread flooding and continuous rains caused by severe tropical storms “Crising” and “Dante,” typhoon “Emong,” and the southwest monsoon, SM Foundation has activated its Operation Tulong Express to provide immediate relief to affected communities.
In partnership with SM Supermalls and SM Markets, the foundation has distributed more than 18,800 Kalinga Packs, which contain food and essential supplies. Relief operations have reached numerous areas, including Metro Manila, Olongapo City, Bataan, Pampanga, Rizal, Pangasinan, Cavite, Tarlac City, La Union, Laguna and Cebu City.
The distribution was carried out in coordination with local government units and barangay officials.
Cristie Angeles, SM Foundation assistant vice president for Livelihood and Outreach Programs, highlighted the value of collaboration across SM’s various business units, which enabled a rapid response to community needs. Volunteers from SM Supermalls, SM Markets and SM Foundation worked together to pack and distribute the Kalinga Packs to households impacted by the recent storms.
