A 23-year-old woman was shot dead by an unidentified suspect inside her rented apartment unit in Antipolo City on Sunday night.
Police identified the victim as Erika De Guzman, who rented an apartment unit in Barangay Cupang, Antipolo City.
Initial investigation showed that the victim was sitting inside her apartment while chatting with her two friends when an unidentified suspect suddenly kicked the door of their apartment and shot the victim.
"Walang sabi-sabi. Bigla nalang pumasok at pinaputukan yung babae," one of the witnesses said.
The victim died on the spot after sustaining fatal gunshot wounds.
The Antipolo Component City Police Station immediately responded, led by P/Col. Jaime Pederio Jr. and P/Cpt. Ricarte Tangdol, after they received a report from the barangay regarding the incident.
Police are investigating the incident and have requested the assistance of the Rizal Provincial Forensic Unit for technical crime scene investigation. They are also looking for CCTV footage which may lead to the immediate arrest of the suspect.
