Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) officially launched the Fisherfolks Advocacy Support Groups (FASG) recently at the Subic Sports Complex in Barangay Wawandue.
The initiative aims to strengthen police-community relations and enhance proactive crime prevention at the grassroots level in coastal areas.
This launch marks a significant step in the Philippine National Police’s commitment to community-oriented policing, aligning with the Chief PNP’s three pillars — Swift and Responsive Public Service, Unity and Morale Within the Ranks, and Accountability and Modernization.
The event brought together fisherfolk leaders from Bataan, Zambales, and Olongapo, along with PRO3 officers led by P/Col. Rommel S. Batangan, deputy regional director for DRDA PRO3.
Representatives from various agencies, including the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 3, Regional Maritime Unit 3, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Drug Enforcement Group, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and local government units, also attended. The gathering underscored the importance of inclusive and multi-sectoral collaboration in protecting peace and security in coastal communities.
