Flooding along key sections of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) on Monday night, 21 July, prompted several major bus companies in Metro Manila to suspend or delay trips to Northern Luzon, citing impassable roads and closed toll plazas.
Five Star Bus announced a temporary suspension of all departures from Metro Manila terminals, noting that flooding had rendered parts of NLEX inaccessible to vehicles.
According to NLEX Corporation, sections such as the Valenzuela Interchange (northbound and southbound under the bridge) and the Paso de Blas southbound entry and exit remained impassable Monday night as of 9:30 PM. Toll plazas in Paso de Blas, Meycauayan, Marilao, and Ciudad de Victoria were also temporarily closed.
Victory Liner, another major provincial bus line, posted a travel advisory at 7:52 PM warning of delays for trips to and from Metro Manila due to flooding at Balintawak southbound and Valenzuela.
Meanwhile, Pangasinan Solid North Transit announced at 7:00 PM that it had cancelled all Solid North trips until further notice, citing flooded and impassable roads.
By 1:30 AM on Tuesday, 22 July, NLEX Corporation confirmed that all toll plazas and entry/exit ramps along NLEX, SCTEX, and NLEX Connector were open and operational. However, it remains unclear when regular bus operations will resume.
