The Medical City (TMC) has been named one of the Asia Pacific region’s top-performing hospitals in Newsweek and Statista’s 2025 global rankings, a recognition of its excellence in specialized care and compassionate patient service.
The list includes premier institutions across 10 countries, including Australia, Japan, and Singapore. The Medical City Ortigas was specifically lauded for its strengths in Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Oncology. TMC Clark was also recognized for its Pediatric services, highlighting the hospital network’s growing impact beyond Metro Manila.
TMC’s Heart Attack Program stands out as one of Asia’s best, achieving a 95 percent survival rate for ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), one of the most serious types of heart attack. It is also the first in the Philippines to receive the Joint Commission International’s (JCI) Gold Seal of Approval four years in a row.
In one case, a 45-year-old patient who suffered a STEMI was treated with emergency angioplasty within minutes of arriving at TMC Ortigas. “By the next morning, she was sitting up, speaking to her family, and on her way to recovery,” the hospital shared.
TMC is also pushing boundaries in personalized medicine. In January, doctors performed a 3D-printed cranial reconstruction using a custom-made PEEK polymer implant on a patient who had suffered a traumatic brain injury. The procedure restored both function and form, offering a more biocompatible and comfortable alternative to traditional metal plates.
TMC’s cancer treatment framework emphasizes a multidisciplinary, patient-first approach. Sheryl Mercado, a 43-year-old undergoing treatment for breast cancer, said this model gave her not only clinical clarity but also emotional security.
“I’m still doing my chemo. I’m also still under the monitoring of my cardiologist, endocrinologist, and nephrologist… I’m confident [in] the doctors and the hospital…we’re not a patient, we’re a family,” she said.
At The Medical City Clark, the Pediatrics Department is gaining national recognition for specialized care, early intervention programs, and family-focused services. “Families of children with specialized conditions find expert care closer to home,” TMC said.
Dr. Stuart Bennett, President and Group CEO of The Medical City, emphasized that the goal has always been service—not awards.
“We never set out to win awards; we set out to win trust. To serve with integrity, lead with heart, and deliver world-class care that never forgets its roots,” Bennett said.“Getting recognized affirms what we’ve always believed: that the Philippines can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the best in global healthcare, powered by skill, compassion, and malasakit.”
