Patrol officers from the Marikina City Police Station swiftly responded to a distress call from a woman who had just escaped a violent domestic assault in Barangay Tumana early Monday morning.
Initial investigations revealed that the attack occurred around 12:30 AM inside a house along Ampalaya Street, where a heated argument broke out between a couple over personal issues. The suspect, allegedly consumed by jealousy, stabbed the woman in the right arm with a kitchen knife and chased her outside, where he reportedly punched her repeatedly in the face, inflicting visible injuries.
The victim managed to flee and was later spotted in tears by patrolling officers and a barangay responder. Upon learning of the assault, police promptly located and arrested the suspect.
He was turned over to the Women and Children Protection Desk of the Marikina Police for documentation and case filing. He is now detained at the station’s custodial facility, pending inquest proceedings for violating Republic Act No. 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.
