The Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT) is calling for justice following the brutal killing of one of its enforcers, Hervin T. Cabanban, who was gunned down and stabbed inside his home on Saturday.
In two separate statements released via SAICT’s official Facebook page, the agency condemned the attack and vowed to pursue those responsible.
“We will do everything to hold those accountable for this heinous crime and cowardly act. Walang kalaban-laban ’yung tao. Pinasok niyo ang bahay, pinagbabaril niyo, at sinaksak niyo pa,” said Jose Lim IV, Assistant Secretary for SAICT.
(He was unarmed. You entered his house, shot him, and even stabbed him.)
“We promise you, justice will prevail,” Lim added.
SAICT Ground Commander, retired Brig. Gen. Simeon Talosig, also addressed the suspects, stressing the group’s unity and determination.
“Sa mga duwag na pumatay sa isa naming kasamahan na tapat na gumaganap lamang ng kanyang tungkulin, nananatili kaming MATATAG at walang takot,” Talosig said.
(To the cowards who killed our colleague who was only faithfully doing his duty, we remain strong and fearless.)
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon likewise condemned the attack and assured the public that justice would be served.
“I strongly condemn in the strongest terms the heinous killing of our SAICT enforcer… Sa pumatay sa aming SAICT enforcer, tinitiyak ko, hahabulin ka ng hustisya,” he said.
(To those who killed our SAICT enforcer, I assure you, justice will pursue you.)
Dizon extended his condolences to Cabanban’s family and said the Department of Transportation (DOTr) is working closely with law enforcement agencies.
“Nakikiramay tayo sa pamilya ng ating kasama sa DOTr-SAICT. Patuloy tayong makikipagtulungan sa Philippine National Police (PNP) at National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) hangga’t hindi nakakamit ang mabilis at tunay na hustisya para sa ating kasama,” he added.
(We will continue to coordinate with the PNP and NBI until swift and true justice is achieved.)
