Police Brigadier General Arnold Abad, who was recently assigned as the District Director of the Northern Police District (NPD), will take on a new role as the head of the Manila Police District (MPD).
Abad was appointed as NPD director on 20 June, replacing Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan. However, his tenure was short-lived as he is now set to lead the MPD.
Outgoing MPD Director Police Brigadier General Benigno Guzman has been reassigned as the new Director of the Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG).
Effective Monday, 14 July, Police Brigadier General Jerry Protacio will assume command of the Northern Police District, which oversees the cities of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela.
Protacio previously served as chief of the Philippine National Police-Human Rights Affairs Office (PNP-HRAO).
The turnover ceremony will be held at the NPD headquarters on Monday and will be attended by National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Police Major General Anthony Aberin.
The latest appointments are part of an ongoing reshuffle among senior officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Other key movements include the appointment of Lieutenant General Edgar Alan Okubo as deputy chief for operations, Brigadier General Jeffrey Decena as Civil Security Group chief, and Brigadier General Martin Defensor Jr. as head of the Directorate for Logistics.
