The family of former Adamson University star Roider Cabrera is seeking financial help after getting hospitalized in Laguna.
Cabrera, who last suited up for Terrafirma in 2021, was rushed to the hospital Friday after experiencing difficulty breathing. Doctors found an infection in the cager’s lungs.
“He is currently admitted to a hospital in Laguna. He’s been really weak, barely sleeping, and in constant pain,” according to a post on Cabrera’s social media page.
“The doctors found an infection in his lungs, and now he’s being referred to a cardiologist because they suspect something might be wrong with his heart again.”
Cabrera requires an angiogram, and if possible, an angioplasty.
“They said he needs an angiogram to check for any blockages, and if they find one, he may need an angioplasty right after. The challenge is that the angiogram alone costs P50,000 upfront, and if he needs angioplasty, it could reach over a million pesos. ICU rates could reach up to P85K per day,” the post added.
The former Philippine Basketball Association 3x3 player recovered from a vegetative state in 2022 after collapsing in a PBA game at the Ynares Arena in Pasig City, but his condition ended his basketball career.
