Two foreign nationals were intercepted at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in separate incidents, according to the Bureau of Immigration on 11 July.
On 3 July, a Cameroonian national identified as Murielle Sandra Mbozo’o Epse Ze, 41, was intercepted at NAIA Terminal 3 before boarding a flight to Milan, Italy. According to BI, immigration officers flagged her for a secondary inspection over concerns about the authenticity of her passport.
The document was later confirmed to be counterfeit upon submission to BI’s Forensic Documents Laboratory.
BI said interceptions involving African nationals are not frequent and typically occur in cases involving fraud.
In a separate incident, a Chinese national identified as 24-year-old Luo Wenchao was arrested on 28 June while attempting to fly to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from NAIA Terminal 1. BI confirmed that the Chinese national is the subject of a red notice issued by Interpol in 2024.
“He is wanted by the Hanshan County Public Security Bureau in Anhui Province, China for violating laws on credit card management,” BI said in a statement.
Records also show that Luo, along with accomplices, purchased over 18,000 sets of bank cards used for online gambling and communication scams.
Both foreign nationals are undergoing deportation proceedings.
