In a landmark moment for the professional services sector, P&A Grant Thornton has unveiled its first-ever Sustainability Report, marking a clear pivot from compliance-focused operations to purpose-driven leadership rooted in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles.
The report was formally launched during a special stakeholder event on 26 June 2025 by Chief Sustainability Officer Chris Ferareza, who emphasized that the publication represents more than just a collection of data.
“This report is more than a document,” said Ferareza. “It is about transformation — a reflection of our journey and the values we choose to stand for.”
Though the firm’s path toward sustainability began years earlier, its formalized commitment took shape in early 2022. At its core was a guiding question: What kind of legacy do we want to leave behind? For P&A Grant Thornton, the answer lies in reimagining its identity—not just as auditors and advisors, but as builders of a more resilient, inclusive future.
The firm began by turning the lens inward. It reviewed internal operations and adopted practices aimed at reducing its environmental footprint—ranging from energy-efficient office initiatives to improved waste management and enhanced employee engagement programs. This introspective shift was essential in aligning day-to-day activities with the firm’s broader values.
Recognizing that true impact also lies beyond its walls, P&A Grant Thornton established a dedicated sustainability services practice to help clients navigate the growing complexity of ESG regulations, climate risk, and stakeholder expectations. The practice is part of a larger strategy to empower businesses in making sustainable choices that meet both market and societal demands.
The release comes at a time when ESG compliance is no longer optional but imperative. Globally, businesses face growing scrutiny from regulators, investors, employees, and the public. In the Philippines — considered one of the most climate-vulnerable nations — the pressure is particularly acute.
“View this not just as a reflection of our work, but as an open invitation: to collaborate, to innovate, and to collectively build a better future,” Ferareza said at the event.
Far from a one-time publication, the report is designed to be the first step in a continuing journey. It highlights the voices of employees, the impact of partnerships, and the firm’s evolving efforts to drive sustainability across its operations and services.
While the inaugural report marks a significant milestone, the firm stressed it is only the beginning. Plans are in place to deepen sustainability efforts, expand advisory services, and continue fostering dialogue with stakeholders.
Future reports, according to the firm, will track progress, offer insights, and reinforce its accountability to its ESG commitments.
With this move, P&A Grant Thornton signals a broader transformation taking root across the professional services industry — one that positions firms not just as financial gatekeepers, but as advocates and architects of long-term sustainable growth.
