Seasoned actress Sylvia Sanchez recently took to social media to share a heartfelt, full-circle moment with her longtime idol — screen icon Janice de Belen.
In a candid and emotional post, Sylvia recalled growing up in Punta, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte, watching Janice every night on television and dreaming of one day becoming an actress herself. That childhood dream, she said, wasn’t just fulfilled — it went far beyond what she ever imagined.
“I grew up idolizing you on TV. Every night I watched you and told myself, ‘I’m going to be an actress someday, I will meet you, and I will act alongside you.’ And all of those dreams came true.”
Sylvia shared that Janice was the first celebrity who ever spoke to her — during her early days at Regal Films — and made an indelible mark not just for her talent, but for her kindness.
“You didn’t snub me. You even invited me to lunch inside the Regal dubbing room. I was so happy — imagine, the idol I dreamed of meeting was in front of me, talking to me, and eventually became my friend.”
Now, decades later, the fangirl from Nasipit has brought her childhood idol to her hometown — to shoot a film together.
“I never thought it would go this far. But here we are — my idol, Miss Flordeluna herself, is in Nasipit working on a film with me. LORD, you’re amazing.”
For Sylvia, the moment is more than just a career milestone. It’s a beautiful reminder that dreams—even the wildest, most improbable ones — can come true, and sometimes, they even bring you home.
“Thank you, Lord. My inspiration. My dream come true. Miss Janice de Belen.”
