Tropical Storm “Bising” is expected to move slowly northward over the sea west of extreme Northern Luzon before shifting north-northeast, with the possibility of briefly re-entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Monday.

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported on 5 July that “Bising” is forecast to intensify into a severe tropical storm within the next 24 hours as it approaches the Taiwan Strait. However, it is projected to weaken by Tuesday as it interacts with the landmass of Eastern China.

As of 10:00 AM Saturday, “Bising” was located 406 kilometers west of Basco, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour.

Although no tropical cyclone wind signals have been raised, PAGASA warned of rough to moderate sea conditions along the northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon. Wave heights of up to three meters may occur along the seaboard of Batanes and the western coasts of Ilocos Norte and the Babuyan Islands.

Meanwhile, wave heights ranging from 2 to 2.5 meters are expected in the northwestern seaboard of Ilocos Sur, the rest of Ilocos Norte, and the western shores of La Union, Pangasinan, and Zambales.

“Mariners of motorbancas and similarly-sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions,” PAGASA advised.
