The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) rose 52.23 points or 0.81 percent to 6,471.28 as of midday trading on 3 July, buoyed by strong performances in select gainers, even as heavy selloffs weighed on top-traded stocks.

DigiPlus Interactive Corp. (PLUS) topped the most active list with a turnover of over P1.16 billion but plunged 16.56 percent to P37.55. Ayala Land, Inc. (ALI) followed with P783.2 million in value traded, dropping 2.65 percent to P27.60. Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) slipped 0.63 percent to P126.90 on P289.7 million in trades.

Leading advancers included Vivant Corporation (VVT), which jumped 25 percent to P25.00, and Lodestar Investment Holdings Corporation (LODE), up 22.22 percent to P0.22. LMG Corp. also climbed 9.09 percent to P0.24.

However, sharp declines from Philippine Racing Club, Inc. (PRC), Seafront Resources Corporation (SPM), and PTFC Redevelopment Corporation (TFC) dragged sentiment. PRC lost 29.55 percent to P4.65, while SPM fell 25.99 percent to P2.05 and TFC shed 25.09 percent to P40.00.

As of 1:38 PM, the peso was trading at 56.365 against the US dollar
