Gilas Pilipinas Women finally booked their first victory following a dominant 83-66 win over Thailand in the 44th William Jones Cup on Thursday at the Taipei Peace Basketball Stadium in Taipei.

Jack Animam dropped a double-double performance, posting 23 points behind a sizzling 11-of-19 field goal shooting on top of 14 rebounds for the Filipinas, who are now tied with Japan with a 1-1 win-loss card.

Former Duke University standout Vanessa de Jesus also sizzled, firing 23 points to make up for her lethargic performance in their 69-85 loss to Taiwan in the opener late Wednesday.

With veterans Afril Bernardino, Andrea Tongco, Janine Pontejos, and Chack Cabinbin gone due to military duties, Gilas banked on Sumaya Sumampong, who fired 11 markers, for offensive support.
