President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has reportedly accepted the courtesy resignation of Bienvenido Rubio as Commissioner of the Bureau of Customs and appointed Ariel F. Nepomuceno as his replacement.
Nepomuceno took his Oath of Office before the President on Monday, 30 July 2025, at Malacañang Palace.
Before assuming his new post, Nepomuceno served as Executive Director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and Administrator of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), with the rank of Undersecretary.
A magna cum laude graduate from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Arts in History, Nepomuceno previously worked at the Bureau of Customs under Commissioners Nicanor Faeldon and Isidro Lapeña. He left government service in 2018 and returned in 2022 to join the OCD.
Nepomuceno also holds a post-graduate degree in Executive Master’s in Business Administration from the Asian Institute of Management.
