Forty-one new and returning House members have completed the Executive Course on Legislation, held as part of their preparations for the upcoming 20th Congress this July.
First-time lawmaker and wife of Senator Migz Zubiri, now Bukidnon Representative Audrey Zubiri, shared her insights from the three-day course.
“Practically, it taught us how to translate needs into policy, how to work with clarity and constitutional integrity, how to scrutinize budgets, interpret data, and most importantly, how to legislate with conscience,” she said.
House Secretary General Reginald Velasco highlighted lawmakers’ responsibility to the public and the nation’s future.
“It is also about steering the nation’s future through thoughtful debate, exacting accountability from the government, responsible and timely decision-making, and a deep sense of care for the welfare of the people that you serve,” Velasco said.
The course was organized through the partnership of the House of Representatives with the University of the Philippines College of Public Administration and Governance – Center for Policy and Executive Development.
