Senator Grace Poe has called for an investigation into the reported disappearance of several community cats cared for by residents of a condominium in Pasig City.

“The plea of condominium owners in Pasig City about their missing cats should not fall on deaf ears,” Poe said in a statement.

She emphasized the importance of listening to the concerns of the pet-loving community, noting that the cats had been part of a responsibly managed group that had been spayed, neutered, and cared for by a group of residents.

“Before us are families who have created a responsible and compassionate pet-caring community in the middle of the urban jungle,” she said.

“Other than feeding and providing shelter to the cats, they have also spayed and neutered them to humanely manage their population,” she added.

Poe said the group “deserves an explanation from the property management on the disappearance of the cats.”

She also urged local barangay officials to step in, help locate the missing animals, and identify those responsible for their disappearance.

Poe reiterated that animal welfare is a shared responsibility, stressing the need to uphold compassion and care for animals in all communities.

In a recent Facebook post, a group of resident volunteers known as Cats of Satori raised alarm over the unexplained disappearance of several of the cats, prompting concern from both residents and animal welfare advocates.

The group said cats under their care went missing twice this year — first in January, then again in June.

“We don’t know where they are. We don’t know why. But we know this: THEY MATTER,” the group wrote.

The volunteers said the disappearances have caused “deep worry among volunteers and residents alike.”

Cats of Satori has maintained a responsible community cat program for years, providing food, shelter, and veterinary care — including spaying and neutering — to manage the population humanely.

As of this writing, the condominium’s property management has yet to issue a public statement.
