Sixteen children from Las Piñas, aged 5 to 17, were recently treated to an art workshop featuring Argentinian painter Luca Martini and Ilonggo woodcarver Jeanroll Ejar.
The interactive session taught basic painting and woodcarving techniques and explored cultural connections between Argentina and the Philippines — both former Spanish colonies with strong Catholic traditions.
The workshop coincided with the artists’ collaborative exhibit at Talyer 15 Gallery in Pasay, held from 26 to 30 May. It was part of the Vernissage series organized by Siargao Artist in Residence, co-founded by Councilor-elect Alelee Aguilar and Ian Geron.
The event was held in partnership with the Embassy of Argentina, headed by Ambassador Ricardo Luis Bocalandro.
“It is important for the youth to understand the value of art not only in preserving our culture,” Aguilar said, “but also in embracing the power of collaboration and building meaningful relationships across cultures.”
