The Northern Police District saw a decline in reported police incidents from 18 to 24 May, days after the conduct of the midterm elections.
Based on the information gathered by the police district, the Total Crime Incidents from the latest week was logged at 235, fewer than the 270 which was recorded from 11 to 17 May.
The lesser reported incidents had an equivalent decrease of at least 12.96%.
The Peace and Order Incidents, which covers crimes affecting public order such as theft, robbery, and physical injuries also decreased from 204 to 158, which is equivalent to 22.55 percent.
During the week, a robbery-holdup incident occurred in Barangay 30, Maypajo, Caloocan City, leading to the arrest of two suspects following a swift and successful follow-up operation led by the Tuna Police Substation.
Although the stolen items were not recovered, the suspects and their getaway vehicle were still flagged.
Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, District Director of the Northern Police District, noted that the decrease of the crime incidents is connected to various joint efforts by the civilians and the policemen in maintaining the security.
“While these numbers are encouraging, we remain steadfast in our commitment to further reduce crime and ensure public safety,” the district director said.
In the regional level, the National Capital Region Police Office said that there was a decrease in index crimes, such as rape, murder, homicide, physical injuries, robbery, theft, and carnapping.
Earlier this week, NCRPO mandated all its police districts in Metro Manila to beef up the police visibility to ensure the decrease of crime incidents.
