Authorities on Monday reported that a 65-year-old masseuse was allegedly strangled to death in Quezon City by a man with three prior homicide charges.
Initial reports disclosed that the victim went to a residential compound around midnight on 13 May after the suspect hired her for a massage. CCTV footage later showed the suspect leaving the compound pushing a cart containing several garbage bags. When he returned, the cart was empty.
Garbage collectors discovered the victim’s body stuffed inside a trash bag the following day.
Police said the suspect and the victim had an argument reportedly stemming from the man’s dissatisfaction with the massage service. They added that the suspect was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time.
The victim’s sister expressed disbelief that she would see her sibling for the first time in seven years at her funeral and vowed to seek justice.
More than a week after the body was found, authorities arrested the 47-year-old suspect in Biñan, Laguna, where he had been hiding.
The arresting team reported finding the victim’s bag and drug paraphernalia in the suspect’s possession. They also confiscated the suspect’s cart, which appeared to have been recently painted.
Investigation revealed the suspect is currently facing a homicide charge for the alleged 2018 killing of a 61-year-old woman in Leyte over a land dispute.
Authorities also learned that the suspect had previously been detained in Muntinlupa City for allegedly killing two other people.
