From 23 November 2024 to 23 May 2025, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) recorded a 23.13 percent drop in the total number of focus crimes compared to the same period the previous year.
This translates to 779 fewer incidents of murder, homicide, physical injuries, rape, robbery, theft and carnapping.
Murder cases fell from 208 to 156, a 25 percent reduction. Homicide dropped by 19.18 percent, physical injuries by 25.75 percent, rape by a significant 29.28 percent, and theft by 25.51 percent.
Robbery cases declined by 16.99 percent, while carnapping of motor vehicles saw an 11.11 percent decrease. Although motorcycle carnapping rose slightly by 5.38 percent, the overall trend remains overwhelmingly positive.
The turnaround is the result of intensified law enforcement operations, increased police visibility, and strengthened collaboration with local communities, the NCRPO said in a statement.
Beyond prevention, NCRPO also said it sharpened its focus on solving crimes.
it said crime solution efficiency rose from 69.06 percent to 69.64 percent, demonstrating an enhanced ability to not only respond but also deliver justice.
Meanwhile, crime clearance efficiency dipped slightly from 99.67 percent to 99.15 percent, the figures still reflect a high rate of resolution.
