A heavy rainfall advisory caused by the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) was issued by the state weather bureau over the Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro region, and portions of the Davao region, and may persist until Saturday afternoon.

According to its second weather advisory, PAGASA stated that rainfall ranging from 50 to 100 millimeters is expected from Thursday until Saturday afternoon.

The affected provinces include Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Sur, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Sultan Kudarat, South Cotabato, Sarangani, Davao Occidental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Oriental.

"The effects of the ITCZ over Mindanao are expected to intensify in the coming days, bringing cloudy skies with thunderstorms and widespread rainfall across much of the region," said PAGASA Weather Specialist John Manalo.

In Tigbao, Zamboanga del Sur, a previous landslide incident has been cleared, and the area is now passable to all types of vehicles.

Aside from the ITCZ, the state weather bureau also reported two other weather systems currently affecting the country.

In Extreme Northern Luzon, the ridge of a high-pressure area is affecting Batanes and the Babuyan Islands, resulting in clearer skies and fewer clouds.

Additionally, the easterlies are bringing humid conditions over the rest of Luzon and the Visayas. However, PAGASA noted the possibility of thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and nighttime.
