
University of Perpetual Help System Dalta crushed its foes to secure the Final Four incentive in the final playdate of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 100 high school boys’ volleyball tournament yesterday at the Arellano University gym in Pasay City.
Gabriel Macatuno shone at the attack zone, leading the Junior Altas to a 25-23, 25-13 win in just 45 minutes of action.
Macatuno fired 10 points while Zyro Ornos and Nathan Ciriaco added nine and seven markers, respectively, in the race-to-three sets eliminations.
With the win, the Junior Altas completed a 9-0 win-loss record, giving them a twice-to-beat advantage when they clash with Arellano University in the Final Four on 23 May at the Arellano gym in Legarda, Manila.
Meanwhile, No. 2 Letran College will hold the other semifinal bonus when it battles No. 3 Mapua University in the other semifinal pairing.
In the high school girls’ event, the Junior Lady Altas will face No. 4 Lyceum of the Philippines University after finishing the eliminations with a perfect 6-0 record.
Should they survive, the Junior Lady Altas will battle the winner between No. 2 Arellano and No. 3 Emilio Aguinaldo College in a best-of-three finals series starting 29 May.
