The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) on Monday warned the public against job advertisements for an e-commerce company that displays the image of BSP Deputy Governor Chuchi Fonacier.

In a statement released Monday, the BSP said the use of her image is unauthorized.

“The BSP has received reports of unsolicited Viber messages from a sender using the Deputy Governor’s photo, offering jobs in an e-commerce company with daily earnings ranging from P500 to P5,000.”

The central bank stressed that it announces job openings only through its official website and social media accounts.

Stay vigilant

“To guard against possible illegal activities, the BSP urges the public to refrain from engaging with and providing personal information to unknown individuals,” BSP said.

The public can report suspicious offerings and other activities associated with the BSP by sending information to bspmail@bsp.gov.ph or calling its landline number (+632) 8811-1277.

BSP personnel can also receive complaints and similar information at the Central Bank’s main office at A. Mabini Street corner P. Ocampo Street Malate, Manila.

The BSP advisory came after increased cases of suspected digital fraud in the country based on global market researchers.

For example, TransUnion reported forum sites and digital communication tools were the top targets for digital fraud in the Philippines last year, with a 30 percent growth compared to 2023.
