Berde gears up for 200-MW solar, 500-MWh battery rollout

Berde Renewables is expanding its clean energy pipeline after securing a supply agreement for 200 megawatts of solar capacity and 500 megawatt-hours of battery energy storage to deliver lower-cost and more reliable power solutions to businesses in the Philippines and Thailand.
The energy developer, a portfolio company of global infrastructure investor I Squared Capital, signed a Master Framework Agreement with Sungrow Power and its authorized regional distributor, Solar Hive, to procure the equipment over the next three years.
“This partnership gives Berde the scale, technology, and regional support to deliver clean energy solutions with greater speed and confidence across the Philippines and Thailand,” Patrick Zhu, Chief Executive Officer of Berde Renewables, said on Tuesday.
Under the partnership, Berde will deploy Sungrow's solar inverters, battery storage, EV charging, and smart energy technologies, while Solar Hive will provide logistics, technical support, and after-sales services in the Philippines and Thailand.
The agreement also gives Berde priority access to Sungrow's equipment, helping accelerate project delivery while expanding its battery storage offerings to support grid stability and shift solar power from daytime generation to evening demand.
"Sungrow, as the globally leading PV inverter and energy storage system provider, is confident it will help Berde Renewables accelerate the deployment of reliable, high-performance clean energy across Southeast Asia," said Michael Ruan, Regional Director for Southeast Asia at Sungrow Power.
The companies will also collaborate on technical training and certification, joint market development, stakeholder engagement, and potential co-investment and vendor financing opportunities for selected projects.
Berde develops projects under a power purchase agreement model, financing, building, owning, and operating customers' solar assets during the contract term before transferring ownership at the end of the agreement.
