The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved the creation of 16,000 initial teaching positions at public schools.
In a statement on Sunday, the DBM said the new positions will be part of the total 20,000 positions the government has set for this full year.
The first tranche will consist of 15,343 Teacher I posts with a Salary Grade 11 and 157 Special Science Teachers with a Salary Grade 13. The remaining 500 positions will be available to Special Education Teachers with Salary Grade 14.
The DBM said it will start coordinating with the Department of Education (DepEd) on the release of appointments and Notices of Organization, Staffing, and Compensation Action (NOSCAs).
“The DBM regional offices will coordinate closely with DepEd for the issuance of NOSCAs and the release of funds, which will cover only those teaching positions that have been successfully filled.”
The DBM said the DepEd will mobilize P4.194 billion to hire new personnel.
