Authorities at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 arrested a departing passenger after he allegedly harassed an airline supervisor who asked for identification.
The Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group reported Friday that the incident occurred at Boarding Gate 7 on Tuesday when the passenger was asked to present a valid ID as part of standard security procedures.
Instead of complying, the passenger reportedly reacted angrily, tapping the supervisor’s arm and making loud, inappropriate remarks.
Airline security personnel immediately reported the incident to NAIA Police Station 2 (NPS 2). Responding officers conducted a preliminary investigation and escorted both the passenger and the supervisor to NPS 2 for further inquiry.
After mediation efforts failed and the airline supervisor decided to file charges, NPS 2 personnel arrested the passenger.
The arrest process was recorded using an Alternative Recording Device (ARD), and the passenger was informed of his constitutional rights.
Last Wednesday, the suspect underwent inquest proceedings for unjust vexation and remains in the custody of NAIA Police Station 2.
