Former Malacañang executive secretary Atty. Victor Rodriguez on Thursday urged the public to demand an immediate resolution from the Supreme Court (SC) regarding petitions challenging the constitutionality of Republic Act 12116, the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
This comes after the SC announced a second cancellation of the scheduled oral arguments on the issue and the high court — through its Office of the Spokesperson — confirmed the issuance of a resolution resetting the oral arguments to “a later date.”
The oral arguments on the petition filed by Rodriguez and Davao City Third District Representative Isidro Ungab were initially scheduled for 1 April 2025, at the SC En Banc Session Hall in Baguio City but were then moved to 19 May. The SC did not provide a specific reason for the latest postponement.
The Court’s resolution stated that the justices resolved to “reset the 19 May 2025 oral arguments to a later date, subject to further notice from the Court.”
Rodriguez shared a copy of the SC’s two-page resolution, issued during the magistrates’ 6 May 2025 en banc session but released only on Thursday, on his Facebook page.
