Two Quezon City police officers were arrested by their colleagues early Wednesday after allegedly causing a disturbance and damaging property at a bar along Commonwealth Avenue.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) identified the arrested individuals as a 33-year-old corporal and a 29-year-old patrolman assigned to the Warrant Section of Police Station 14 (Holy Spirit).
According to initial reports, the two officers entered a KTV bar in Barangay Holy Spirit around 2:30 a.m. allegedly under the influence of alcohol. They reportedly ordered several bottles of beer and began creating trouble and damaging some of the bar’s property, prompting the bar owner to call for assistance.
Officers from Police Station 14 responded quickly and apprehended the two suspects.
In a statement, the QCPD strongly condemned the alleged misconduct of the two policemen and assured the public that they would face sanctions. The suspects are currently in custody.
“The QCPD reiterates its firm stance, with the guidance and directive of NCRPO Regional Director, PMGEN Anthony Aberin, that misconduct, abuse of authority and any behavior unbecoming of a police officer will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Should the allegations be proven true, both criminal and administrative sanctions will be pursued without delay,” the QCPD statement read.
“The QCPD stands resolute in its commitment to uphold the highest standards of integrity, discipline, and professionalism. We assure the public that we will take decisive action to maintain the trust entrusted to us, ensuring full accountability and zero tolerance for misconduct within our ranks,” it added.
Meantime, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin stressed that the has a strict policy of zero tolerance for police officers who violate the law.
“As members of the PNP, we adhere to a higher standard of propriety and professionalism. NCRPO’s actions against police misconduct will always be swift, decisive and uncompromising,” Aberin said in a separate statement.
“After finding probable cause of their violations, they were placed on custody and will be charged criminally and administratively,” he added.
