How Judy Ann Santos, Zsa Zsa Padilla and Kris Aquino redefine what it means to be a mom
These celebrity moms show us that true strength often lies in the quiet, everyday moments of parenting.

Judy Ann Santos
Onscreen, they’ve played unforgettable roles that have shaped Philippine entertainment. Off screen, they’ve taken on the most powerful and personal role of all — being a mother.
This Mother’s Day, we shine the spotlight on three iconic women who have embraced motherhood with courage, love and grace: Judy Ann Santos, Zsa Zsa Padilla and Kris Aquino.
From raising strong, compassionate children to facing life’s toughest challenges head-on, these celebrity moms show us that true strength often lies in the quiet, everyday moments of parenting.
Judy Ann Santos: Being fully present
She’s known as the Queen of Pinoy Soap Operas, but to Yohan and Lucho, Judy Ann Santos is simply “Mom.” Her approach to motherhood reflects the same dedication and emotional depth she brings to her award-winning performances — authentic, selfless and grounded in love.
“Iba ’yung patience ng isang ina (A mother’s patience is different),” she says. “Kahit gaano ka kapuyat o kapagod, pagdating sa mga anak mo, wala na ’yon (When it comes to your children, you won’t feel your exhaustion).”
Judy Ann admits that she’s far from perfect, and she wears that imperfection with pride. For her, being a good mother isn’t about getting everything right, but about being fully present — emotionally and spiritually — for her children. The lessons she learned from her own mother, Mommy Carol, echo in her own parenting style: Hard work, humility and an unwavering sense of responsibility.
Beyond her role at home, Judy Ann is also a culinary entrepreneur, running the restaurant Angrydobo with the support of her husband, actor Ryan Agoncillo. Whether in the kitchen or on set, Juday’s passion is fueled by family. “I think it really made me a better person,” she reflects on her journey as a mother. “Walang katapusan ang pagmamahal mo (Your love is endless).”

ZSA ZSA Padilla
Zsa Zsa Padilla: A song of strength and letting go
For singer and actress Zsa Zsa Padilla, motherhood began early — at just 16 years old — with the birth of her daughter, Karylle. What began as a life-changing experience soon blossomed into a lifelong friendship. “We became best friends,” she recalls. “Siya ’yung everyday tumatawag at nag-che-check sa akin (She’s the one who call up to check on me every day).”
Zsa Zsa now navigates the bittersweet reality of the empty nest, as her three daughters — Karylle, Zia and Nicole — pursue their own lives and careers. “You would think I’d be used to it, but no. It’s so hard,” she admits. Yet she doesn’t dwell in loneliness. Instead, she channels her emotions into wisdom — for herself and for fellow mothers experiencing the same journey of letting go.
One of her most memorable Mother’s Days? A simple yet touching moment when all her children, still living at home, staged a special performance just for her. “Not every day they’re complete, and they made that effort — I’ll never forget it.”
Drawing strength from her own mother, Esperanza “Kating” Padilla, Zsa Zsa has come to value the virtues of forgiveness, faith and emotional resilience — qualities she’s now passed on to her own children.
