Transportation authorities said Thursday they are searching for the driver of a white sport utility vehicle who evaded traffic enforcers after being stopped for illegally using the EDSA busway near Ortigas Station.

The Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT) said in a statement that the SUV entered the northbound EDSA busway at 10:30 a.m.

“Upon being flagged down, the driver claimed to be heading to the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Camp Aguinaldo but failed to present a valid driver’s license,” SAICT said.

“When asked to pull over to the side lane, the driver accelerated, weaving through traffic in a reckless bid to flee,” it added.

SAICT’s initial investigation revealed that the SUV’s license plate did not match its registered vehicle type, “suggesting potential fraud.”
