Two Chinese nationals were arrested in Cavite for the alleged kidnapping of three foreigners in Batangas.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said the suspects allegedly abducted two Chinese nationals and one Korean national on 2 May in Barangay Balaytigue, Nasugbu.
The victims were released the following day after ransom negotiations.
Using surveillance footage and witness accounts, police were able to develop leads and carry out a follow-up operation.
On 4 May, the suspects were arrested at a police checkpoint in Bacoor, Cavite. The suspects were identified as Huang Yuze, 27, and Zhao Li Shan, 29, both male Chinese nationals.
Authorities recovered from them a .45 caliber pistol, a 9mm handgun, multiple rounds of ammunition, and items directly connected to the kidnapping.
The arrested suspects are now facing charges of kidnapping, illegal possession of firearms, and other related offenses.
The PNP said immigration-related charges are being prepared in coordination with the Bureau of Immigration.
PNP chief Police General Rommel Marbil commended the arrest of the two suspects.
“This swift and coordinated response demonstrates our unwavering commitment to protect everyone within our borders — Filipinos and foreign nationals alike,” said Marbil, as he warned that the Philippine government is committed to preventing and combating crimes that cross national boundaries.
“Let this be a clear warning to criminal syndicates: the Philippines will never be a haven for transnational crime. We will respond with resolve, and we will hold all offenders accountable,” he added.
