The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday said that no Filipinos were reported injured or killed in the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that left at least 26 civilians dead and 20 others wounded.

According to DFA spokesperson Ma. Teresita Daza, the DFA had not received any information of Filipino nationals being affected, either in the attack or in the heightened military tensions near the Line of Control (LoC) between India and Pakistan.

“Post has not specified location, particularly those near the LoC, but based on reports (following the Pahalgam attack on 22 April), there has not been any information regarding Filipinos affected by the Pahalgam attack, and the latest skirmishes near the LoC,” Daza told reporters in a text message.

Citing the latest report of the Philippine Embassy in Islamabad, the DFA said there are 3,151 Filipino nationals in Pakistan.

In an earlier advisory, the embassy called on Filipinos near the LoC to exercise extreme caution following the Red Alert declaration by Pakistani authorities due to the escalating security situation in these areas.

Filipino national residing or working in Bhimber City, Azad Kashmir, and the Sialkot LoC sector are encouraged to avoid non-essential travels, particularly near border zones.
