The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) announced that the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) has been certified by the Department of Health (DoH) as a tuberculosis treatment center, offering diagnostic, treatment, and counseling services.
The DoH Regional Office XI formally awarded the certification, recognizing DPPF as a TB-Directly Observed Therapy (TB-DOTS) Center.
“With this milestone, DPPF becomes the first Operating Prison and Penal Farm (OPPF) to receive recognition as a DoH-certified TB-DOTS Center,” BuCor said, highlighting the strong partnership between DPPF’s Health and Wellness Services Section and the DoH.
DPPF Acting Superintendent CCInsp. Edgardo F. Mendoza Jr. thanked the DoH for the accreditation, which aims to improve the health and well-being of Persons Deprived of Liberty at the facility.
BuCor added that Mendoza is scheduled to meet with Philippine Health Insurance Corporation Region XI officials to finalize accreditation-related plans.
