A man was arrested by police operatives in North Caloocan after an individual sought help, reporting that the suspect had pointed a gun at him.
Based on the report submitted to Caloocan City Police Chief, Police Colonel Paul Doles, around 6:50 p.m. last Tuesday, Patrolwoman Alissa Alferez and Patrolwoman Aya-Nacel Lalimarmo of the West Bagong Silang Substation were conducting a visibility patrol in Barangay 176-A when the victim, identified as ‘Frankie,’ approached the police after he was threatened with a gun.
Police Major Edsel Ibasco, commander of the West Bagong Silang Substation, said in a phone interview that when the police arrived in the area, the suspect, identified as “Djamil,” was still holding the caliber .38 firearm.
"Upon interrogation, the suspect said that he didn't know the victim, but there were people chasing him, but the victim is not included there," the substation commander continued.
Ibasco added that the suspect claimed he inherited the gun from his grandfather; however, the firearm was found to be unlicensed.
"According to the victim, the suspect suddenly entered and pointed a gun at them—he was barely at the door when he immediately aimed the weapon at them."
Among the recovered pieces of evidence from the suspect is a caliber .38 firearm, which was also loaded with two live bullets.
The 19-year-old suspect has already undergone an inquest proceeding as of last Wednesday.
Further investigation is still being conducted to determine if the suspect was involved in previous cases.
Djamil will face charges of Grave Threat and violation of Section 28 of Republic Act No. 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, in relation to the Omnibus Election Code.
He remains in the custody of the West Bagong Silang Substation.
