First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos paid tribute to the late Superstar Nora Aunor on Wednesday, a day after the state funeral for the National Artist.

In a heartfelt social media post, the First Lady shared photos of her visit with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to Aunor’s wake on Monday.

“We bid farewell to a true legend. Ate Guy, your brilliance lit up our screens and our hearts,” she said in the post.

Mrs. Marcos cited Aunor’s contributions to the Philippines through her craft, particularly as a National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts.

“As a National Artist — your voice, your soul, your courage — will forever echo in the dreams of every storyteller and every Filipino,” she added.

She also expressed her condolences to the bereaved family of Aunor: her children Ian, Lotlot, Matet, Kiko and Kenneth de Leon, as well as their families and friends in the industry.

As an advocate for the arts and a champion of Filipino talent, Mrs. Marcos’ followers also took to social media to pay their respects to the late multi-awarded actress.

“A large part of Philippine film history has been lost. But her creations will remain,” one user wrote.

“Our deepest condolences on the passing of National Artist Nora Aunor. May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration,” another fan said.

“Ate Guy’s contribution to the arts is immeasurable. Thank you for remembering her,” a user shared.

The First Lady closed her social media post with words of gratitude and farewell to the beloved Filipino artist.

“Paalam na po at maraming, maraming salamat (Goodbye and thank you very, very much),” she said.

Nora Aunor left a lasting impact on the Philippine entertainment industry, inspiring countless Filipinos in the fields of film, television, music, and the arts.

She passed away at the age of 71 on 16 April 2025 due to acute respiratory failure following a medical procedure. She was buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
