The stunning façade adorned by 212 handwoven fabrics representing the diverse regions of the Philippines has attracted more than 40,000 visitors in nine days, including Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, chairperson of Qatar Museums, since the Osaka Expo opened on 13 April 2025.
According to the Department of Tourism, the overwhelming turnout is an affirmation of the global curiosity, admiration and connection the Pavilion has sparked among international guests, with many calling it one of the “must-see experiences” at the Expo.
“This is more than just an exhibition. It is a movement of culture, connection and creativity that brings the Philippines to the world stage in a way we have never seen before,” said Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco.
“The remarkable turnout of 40,252 visitors in just nine days is a resounding affirmation of the strength of our story, the power of our people, and the beauty of our culture. It is a triumphant debut for the Philippines, and a proud moment for all Filipinos,” she enthused.
Sheikha expressed admiration for the Pavilion’s design and storytelling, spending considerable time appreciating the scrims and even expressed interest in commissioning a similar piece, noting how the fusion of tradition and technology resonated with her.
Anchored on the theme “Nature, Culture, and Community: Woven Together for a Better Future,” the Pavilion has quickly established itself as a symbol of Filipino ingenuity, creativity and passion.
The Pavilion’s multisensory experience continues to instill a deep impression on guests, blending traditional craftsmanship with innovation through an animated mix of light, sound and motion.
Its centerpiece, “Dancing with Nature,” transforms visitors into living elements of the natural world, while daily live performances by Cultural Center of the Philippines’ artists bring warmth, rhythm and authenticity to every moment.
For her part, Margarita Nograles, chief operating officer of the DoT’s marketing promotions arm, the Tourism Promotions Board, said, “The TPB team is working tirelessly to welcome guests and ensure they experience the true warmth of Filipino hospitality. We hope that every visitor who enters the Pavilion leaves inspired to discover the Philippines firsthand, for at the heart of our country is our greatest strength — our people. And it is through empowering them that we continue to share the very best of who we are with the world.”
As of this writing, the Pavilion continues to welcome thousands of visitors, showcasing a celebration of Filipino culture, a symbol of the Philippines’ commitment to sustainable tourism, inclusive growth and cultural diplomacy.
“The Philippine Pavilion is our invitation to the world to feel the warmth of our hospitality, to be awed by the wonder of our islands, and to connect with the soul of our people. We welcome everyone to experience why there is every reason to ‘Love the Philippines,’” Secretary Frasco emphasized.
With much more in store — including the launch of the Hilot Wellness Space next week, the Habi Gift Shop in May, and the presentation of the Pavilion mascot Kokoro-chan — the Philippine Pavilion is certain to amaze the world with the Filipino story at Expo 2025 Osaka.
