President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has signed Republic Act 12158, declaring 21 March of every year a special non‑working holiday in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro to mark the city’s founding anniversary.
The new law repeals Republic Act 8986, which had designated 21 March as a special working holiday. Under RA 12158, Calapeños will now have the day off to celebrate the occasion.
RA 12158 will take effect 15 days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation. The measure was signed on 11 April 2025.
