Olongapo City, Zambales — A renowned family restaurant was destroyed in a fire on Magsaysay Drive in Olongapo City on Sunday.
According to Vice Mayor Jong Cortez, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) received a call at 11:38 a.m. reporting that a fire had broken out above the Sam's Pizza restaurant on Magsaysay Drive, the city's entertainment district.
He added that the BFP, Olongapo Fire & Rescue DRRMO, SBMA FD, Subic SPOSO, barangay rescue teams, Philippine Red Cross, volunteer radio groups, the Office of Traffic Management and Public Safety, and the Olongapo City Police Office responded to the scene.
Initial reports indicated that the fire started on the second floor of the building.
SBMA Fire Chief Ranny Magno said that the fire is under control. "We are just doing over hauling for deep seated fire inside the building," he added.
