Mayoral candidate Sarah Discaya has vowed to transform open spaces along the Pasig River into a walkable esplanade if elected in the upcoming May 12 elections.

“In a bustling city full of noise and traffic, we need a space to stop. We can breathe. Families getting together, chatting, or simply walk along the river while looking at new hope,” Discaya said.

She described the proposed project as an architectural vision where every Pasigueño — young or old — can experience order, beauty, and tranquility in the heart of the city.

“The river that was once ignored or abandoned is now being brought to life,” she said. “The sidewalk that used to be crowded is now safe and green. A place that was previously tiring, now there is space to relax.”

While she acknowledged that such a development may attract attention, she emphasized that it is not meant to be a showpiece.

“This is not a simple walkway — it is a path to a more peaceful life,” she said, adding that the goal is to create a space that Pasigueño families can truly enjoy and feel.
